Hello everyone!
I’ve been getting too many messages and comments
asking about the new documentary series being aired
from BS Asahi in Japan right now.
Sorry I can’t share any videos in respect of the Copyright rules
and everything… but this is the best I can do!
I will write an English report for each episode!
With as many screenshots as I can!
Hope it can make it easier for everyone to imagine
how the new program is like.
Will be glad if you take the time and read my report
and let me know if there’s anything more
you would like me to add or change my style of writing
or anything like that.
Hope this can make Tamaki Hiroshi fans
living outside Japan happy
… at least a little bit ^^

First destination is Oki no shima in Shimane prefecture.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Okinoshima,_Shimane
Let’s start the trip with Tamaki san!
While walking on the Port,
Tamaki san explains that he may have crossed this
island riding on the ferry, but he has not visited the place very often.
He also says that he probably visited the island during his childhood,
but he doesn’t really have clear memories of those days.
So there will definitely be some new things for him to discover here.
Oki islands (隠岐諸島) is actually formed of 16 islands in total,
which only 4 of them are inhabited right now.
Nishinoshima which is one of them,
is the place where Tamaki san’s father was born and raised there
and his grandparents have been living up until now.
Okinoshima-town is placed on Dogo Island.

OK Back to following Tamaki san on his trip…
Here he finds someone who’s obviously here for fishing.
When he approaches and asks them if they are from the island,
surprisingly he finds out that they are from Tokyo!!
The lady is sitting on the chair probably waiting all the time
and Tamaki san says that fishing needs patience…
waiting is a part of it!
Then it seems like they miss a fish because he was there
and when he apologizes for what happened,
the man says fishing needs patience!! hehehe XD
and Tamaki san says “I think I heard someone saying that before…
Was it me?!”
And he leaves the couple to enjoy their fishing trip!
As he walks in the town, somehow he meets a group of young girls
who are super excited to see Tamaki Hiroshi in person.
One of them asks Tamaki san if he would hold her son!!
and he agrees and…
You can see what happens in the photo XD
The boy starts crying and trying to run away!!
hahahahaha!!!
Then after leaving them behind
the director asks him if he likes kids and he says:
“I love kids!… but I can love them more if they become attached…
Even though basically, I make them cry!”
XD XD XD
It’s time to start practicing Tamaki san!!
As he’s wondering around on the port…
he meets two old men who have just came back from the sea.
They show him the fish and the sazae (a species of sea snail)
they have caught on that day!
Then as he finds a group of young boys playing near the port
he becomes interested and decides to go talk to them…
he calls out and asks them what they are doing…
…and they say they are gathering shellfish!
So he joins the boys on the rocks over the water!
He asks them if they have ever fallen down the rocks
while playing here and they say no!
He says that they will definitely get hurt if they do!
And I think he’s right O_O
He talks to one of the boys as he’s playing and
he shows him the shellfish he has gathered today…
Seems like they take them home and eat them all.
Tamaki san asks him about the taste and if it tastes like sazae
and the boy says yes… Tamaki san find this kind of life
to be fun and tells the boy that this kind of life
will become something he will miss when he
becomes an adult…
a kind of life style he will desire to have!
The boys says “Yes!” but I know he has no idea
what he means XD He will when he grows up I guess XD
Next stop is a local shop in the town.
Before he gets in he points to the handwritten message on the door and
makes a joke about the pure handwritten board! XD
As he enters the shop he starts wondering around…
…and then talks to the lady and asks her if there’s
a special kind of food which is famous around the area
and the lady recommends “Iwa nori” (A kind of seaweed)
and talks more about the onigiri (Rice ball)
they make with Soy sauce and eat often in this area.
As she explains about this,
Tamaki san says “Wish I could eat that!”
with a funny tone which kinda means
“Will you make it for me?!” hahahaha XD
… and since the lady is really kind,
she says that she will make some for him
and invites him to her house ♡
He thanks her and they head to where okaasan lives…
… as he is walking behind her with a big smile on his face,
Tamaki san notices the 3 young boys
who were playing on the shore a little while ago…
standing near by!
He waves his hand for them…
… and ask them if where they are standing is the bus stop…
which is correct!
Then okaasan says that she knows a person on the island
who is one of Tamaki san’s relative!!…
… and when she says her name,
Tamaki san starts thinking so hard but seems like
he has too many relatives he may not know them all very well…
but he thinks that he probably has met her before.
Then okaasan says that one of the kids standing there in the bus stop
was that person’s son!!!
Tamaki san is surprised…
and says “So that makes him my distant relative?!”
hahahahaha he’s mad at him for not saying anything!!
“Say it then!… That guy!!”
hehehe of course he’s kidding.
But I think he really wanted him to introduce himself 🙂
As they get home and okaasan invites him in…
… she says that she has a large family but
the kids are not home right now.
And also says that one of the boys they just met by the bus stop…
is her grandson!!!
hehehehe “It’s a small world!” Tamaki san says XD
As they get to the main topic “Making onigiri” XD
okaasan brings out the iwa nori!
And Tamaki san helps her grill the nori on the stove…
… and then cuts them into small pieces!
Then, okaasan starts making the onigiri…
… and Tamaki san concentrates carefully on how she’s doing it…
or maybe he’s just waiting to eat it as soon as it’s ready!
This is called “Bakudan Onigiri”
Which litterally means “Bomb Rice Ball”
hihihi interesting naming!
Then Tamaki san takes the challenge… making a bakudan onigiri by himself!
He applies some Soy sauce on the nori.
… puts the rice on the nori…
and says “Did I put too much rice?”
And I really want to tell him…
“Then don’t do it if you know it already !”
hehehe XD
And as he tries to make the rice ball
and create a ball-shaped onigiri…
XD Somehow…
He fails!!
And makes a very funny and mysterious onigiri!
But he’s cool XD XD
keeps the calm face
and like nothing has happened…
… puts the onigiri in the plate
on top of the beautiful ones okaasan just made!
The staff are all laughing behid the camera XD XD
Then he starts laughing and
apologizes for making the beautiful plate of onigiri dirty
with his weird shape onigiri!
Then he reaches to eat the one he made to get rid of it XD
despite the shape,
seems like the taste is very good.
It’s fresh and tasty even though it’s simple!
Then okaasan joins him and they start eating together…
… and Tamaki san says that the taste somehow makes him calm.
ookasan has also prepared some tako and awabi as well.
Tamaki san starts eating some and it’s obvious he’s enjoying them.
Awabi is cooked with miso
and seems like it’s a familiar taste for Tamaki san
as he have had it often many years ago.
Here Tamaki san goes for a real Bakudan onigiri
with the right shape and takes one from the plate to eat.
…but while he’s eating…
ookasan’s grandson comes back home…
… and guess what?
It’s the boy he talked to on the shore.
ookasan asks him if he wants to eat onigiri with Tamaki san
and of course he joins him!
He picks one and starts eating!
Then Tamaki san says that it feels like he’s watching himself eating!!!
XD XD
He believes that their way of eating the onigiri is similar XD
I agree! XD
